1953 Holden at the Bridge of Remembrance

The Bridge of Remembrance forms part of Cashel Street in Christchurch (for details of it see the book Bridges of New Zealand).  At the time of this postcard it seems you could drive over it, but you can't now.  Where the photographer is standing is now one end of the Cashel Mall, which since the February earthquake the public have been prevented from entering at all, although the ambition of reopening it with makeshift shops inside shipping containers has been reported in the news.
