Many people know of Syd Mead (born 18 July 1933 in Saint Paul, Minnesota), but in case you haven't heard of him, he is a popular designer and illustrator and has been the artist behind a number of well-known Sci-Fi movies. His car artworks are likewise futuristic although the one above with the 1972 plate above is likely an actual design proposal of that time. Official site
