railway viaduct of Nogent-sur-Marne, France, 1856

This was completed in 1856 and this painting was probably done not long afterwards. Crossing the Marne river, it was 29 metres high, and 830 metres long, with 4 main arches of 50 metres.  It was on the Paris - Bâle (Basel) arterial route and replaced with a new viaduct in 1945. The old viaduct, destroyed in part, is still there.
