An S.C. Smith photo of trams crossing the intersection of Cuba (left to right) and Manners Streets in the 1930s. From 1978 to quite recently Manners Street beyond the intersection was a pedestrian mall. The former James Smith Department Store building on the right and the former Bank of NZ (which now calls itself bnz) building opposite it are still there; the rest have been replaced.
This was a photo considered for, but not used in the books Wellington Transport Memories and Wellington: a Capital Century.
