Staying with life in the East, this postcard shows what was then named Klement Gottwald Allee in Berlin Weisssensee...well at least it shows railed vehicles, but it's a rather odd theme for a postcard otherwise. Before 1953 and after 1990 the street has been known as Berliner Allee.
Klement Gottwald (1896-1953) was a Czech born Communist, named in a poll conducted by Czech TV in 2005 as the most unpopular Czech of all.
