the world's strongest currency

When we first looked at the data 25 years ago we saw that the Swiss Franc had been the world's strongest currency over the previous 25 years; and in the longer term that has remained the case.  The three 10 year charts above from xe.com show the value of the Swiss Franc or CHF against the Euro, the Japanese Yen, and the US dollar, all showing long term appreciation.

It has made Switzerland an expensive country for visitors, but everywhere there you get pristine picture postcard landscapes and cityscapes where even the ballast on the railway lines looks freshly scrubbed, as author George H. Drury once said.
