Billard railcar model A80D, number 314 from 1937 is seen in a rocky site, downstream from Colombier-le-Vieux on the line Tournon-Lamastre, on the heritage operation Chemin de Fer du Vivarais (CFV) in 2003.
Lightweight odd looking autorails or railcars were a particularity of the French railway scene. Billard was a builder of railway
matériel based in Tours, and specialised in the construction of light autorails and metre/narrow gauge equipment.
In our library we have the 5-volume Autorails de France which is interesting reading for the enthusiast of "small railways" as well as mainlines.
