the Spirit of Tomorrow


As can be seen in this Czech poster from 1935 streamline shapes were en vogue in the 1930s, although apart from the VW Beetle and Chrysler Airflow there weren't many such road vehicles designed that decade (there were much more built for the rails).  Horace Basil Oldfield of Canada took the theme seriously enough to build this vehicle, dubbed The Spirit of Tomorrow, in 1942, more about it on this website
