This experimental tram has been running on three Moscow routes - No.s 29, 4 and 7 - in a program to address traffic congestion in the city. According to the developers, the new tram will be able to seriously compete as a shuttle. A prototype of this mini-tram was designed in 2004, but only completed for line tests very recently. Presumably it is contemplated that it will offer similar advantages as mini-buses on the roads.
