Bad Schandau


Having mentioned it in the previous post, here are a couple of views from the 1900s of this town on the Elbe River, not far from the Czech border.  The main Dresden - Prague railway line is out of sight below the trees in the foreground.

This is a base for visiting the Sächsische Schweiz National Park and there are walking trails in the hills on both sides of the river. It also has the Kirnitzschtalbahn, a metre gauge 8 km tram from the town  up to the Lichtenhain Waterfall.
