Bakersfield then and now

A postcard from the mid-1950s and the same location today, below. Bakersfield is one of the places many rail enthusiasts will go through as the busy Tehachapi railway line (see a post from last year) is to the south, and about 200 km or 120 miles to the south east is Los Angeles. It is a station on the planned California high speed rail line. The population today is a bit short of 350,000.
