publicity for the Lockheed Constellation, 1946, Lockheed Super Constellation, 1950, TWA

With its dolphin shaped fuselage and nose, and the triple tail, the Lockheed Constellation / Super Constellation was a very stylish aircraft.  It was the first pressurised airliner in widespread use, however, it was tiny compared to the later Jumbo Jets. None were used by New Zealand's national carrier, but they were used on long haul routes by Qantas. A total of 856 were produced between 1943 and 1958 at Lockheed's Burbank, California plant.
