the intersection of Wellesley Street with Queen Street, Auckland, 1971

One notes a trolley bus in the old ARA colours waiting at the lights and a diesel bus at the stop outside the Civic Theatre (which is screening There was a Crooked Man [1970] which could be a good title for the Eric Watson movie). Most cars are British although an Australian Chrysler Valient can been seen in the central lane waiting at the intersection.

Among the commercial names of the past, T&G insurance became part of National Mutual in 1980, which itself disappeared into AXA in the mid-1990s. The Auckland Savings Bank became ASB, now owned by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
