New Zealand Maritime Images: the golden years as the focus was not good enough. Coastal ships and goods trains used the same wharf at the end of the 5 km Wanganui branch line. The ship's name is
Tiroa. An undated photo, but probably 1950s.
the ship is the tiroa was owned by south taranaki shipping co traded mainly patea to wellington butter trade with mv inaha & mv foxton up to 1959 if you would like more info contact me michael raynes @ tamiki144@gmail.com
ReplyDeletethe ship is the mv tiroa one of 3 owned by the south taranaki shipping co patea the others were mv inaha & mv foxton employed carrying butter & cheese to wellington returning with general cargo via wanganui when needed this service ceased in 1959 when contract cancelled if interested i cansupply details & photos & history of company &ships contactmichael raynes @ tamiki144@gmail.com
