This is a photo which was considered for but not used in the the book New Zealand Maritime Images: the golden years as the focus was not good enough. Coastal ships and goods trains used the same wharf at the end of the 5 km Wanganui branch line. The ship's name is Tiroa. An undated photo, but probably 1950s.
