Budapest tram



Two photos (taken from the window of a bus) of a tram on route 61 headed for the Hűvösvölgy suburban terminus, to the north west of central Budapest. Budpest's track gauge is the standard railway 1,435 mm. The tram is a modernized Tatra T5C5 car with digital display blinds, new carpets and new interiors with digital display boards inside as well. These cars were originally built in what was then Czechoslovakia and are double-ended cars riding on two 4-wheel trucks, they have seating for 28 and a top speed of 65 km/h (40 mph). They are powered by 4 electric motors having a combined rating of 180 kW (240 hp) and draw 600 volts from the overhead.
