Arc de Triomphe, Orange, France

We mentioned Triumphal Arches in the last post. The Arc de triomphe d'Orange (Vaucluse) France, was built during the time of the Roman Empire, probably in the reign of Augustus. The entire structure measures 19.57 metres long by 8.40 metres wide, to a height of 19.21 metres.

Now there's an idea for John Key: why not build one in Wellington, which could be used for the bi-annual state awards ceremonies... The GG could dress as a Roman Governor and proclaim: "Egredere tu magistratus Roman Empire!"
