The episode of the American produced TV series Great Scenic Railways screened this week on the Travel Channel included a look at the Weka Pass Railway in north Canterbury, once the first 14 km stage to Waikari on the old Waiau branch which closed in 1978.
The episode only showed the preserved DG diesels running, presumably because of a summer fire ban applying. So, here is what the popular photo stop location on the line looks like when the A class steamer built by A&G Price (NZ) in 1909 is running! The society's website.
