Life along the line in Britain as it was

Paul Atterbury will be familar to those who watch the BBC's Antiques Roadshow TV programme as one of the experts who gives the history and value of objects that members of the public bring in.

He is also a keen railway enthusiast and has authored a number of books including Branch Line Britain, Along Lost Lines, Along Country Lines and Tickets Please.  This, his latest, is a companion to these previous books from the same publisher and focuses on the people who worked on the railway as engine and train crew, station staff and of course, passengers. As with his other books, it is packed full of archive photographs of steam trains, other locomotives, memorabilia and railway ephemera: old postcards, badges and other railwayana, most of which Atterbury has collected himself from constant searching at postcard and antique fares and auction sites.

The book has 256 pages, colour or dutone illustrations throughout, hardcover.
