Eizan Electric Railway, Japan

"The Eizan Electric Railway, or Eiden, is a private company operates train lines in an area known as Rakuhoku in northern Kyoto.

"Eiden operates two lines, the Eizan Main Line, which departs from Demachiyanagi Station near the center of Kyoto for Mount Hiei, and the Kurama Line, which travels to the KURAMA & KIBUNE area. There are many locations along the lines with stunning nature and rich history, and the scenery is a complete change from the city center. One of the delights of Kyoto is how dramatically the scenery changes from season to season. It is well worth the trip for such seasonal features as Kawadoko (dining at the riverside) in summer and the colors of the trees in fall."

The two lines are in standard gauge and are 5.6 and 8.8 km long (total 14.4 km) and powered by 600 Volts DC from overhead.

Porirua Adventure Park gets green light with consents

A one-of-a-kind Adventure Park on the slopes of Te Rāhui o Rangituhi in Porirua City has received its final consent, this one from the Department of Conservation (DOC).

Porirua Mayor Anita Baker says she looks forward to the next steps in the proposed development.

“Select Contracts NZ have shown professionalism, respect for the environment and perseverance and I wish them well in the next stage as they work on their funding package for the park. I know from the feedback we received during consultation that many people in our community are eager for the park to succeed.”

Mayor Baker says Council required Select to put in place a rigorous restoration programme to return the site to its natural state once development is completed and they will also restore and maintain the natural environment throughout the park’s lifetime.

Prior to and during construction, some trees and plants will be removed and there will be some alterations to the landscape, so it was important that restoration of these areas was included in the consents.

“DOC also has a very high threshold to reach in terms of the environment and I’m pleased Select Contracts have done all due diligence to meet this standard to mitigate any environmental impacts of the park.

“The Adventure Park will open access to so many more Porirua people to enjoy more of our city’s lovely green spaces,” Mayor Baker says.

“It includes a gondola that will carry visitors up Rangituhi where they can mountain bike or walk down or simply sit and enjoy the fabulous views at the restaurant on the hill. The current series of walking and biking pathways will be expanded by Select Contracts and they will continue to be freely open to the public."

A zipline course and New Zealand’s first indoor surf simulator will also be on offer for those who want to pay for the experience.

“The park will also mean more people visiting Porirua that will bring economic benefits to other businesses in the city too,” Mayor Baker says.

Someone's glamor photo idea with a CD (Czech Railways) now withdrawn 451 class 4-car electric trainset. A total of 51 of these were built in 1964 and used on commuter trains around Prague.

The traction motors produced 1320 kW (1760 hp) and the sets operated on 3,000 Volts DC from overhead. A set had 332 second class seats.

Since 1945 Glatz has been Klodzko in Poland and these are probably on the line that continues into the hill country eventually crossing into Czechia (Czech Republic). It's named as the Hollental although that won't be the Polish name.

Los Angeles: San Pedro Pacific Electric red car

This is a metre gauge 14.1 km line opened in 1910, electrified in 1914, still functioning. The route starts at Berlin S-Bahn station Friedrichshagen, located on line S3 and makes its way to the town of Rüdersdorf, terminating at a loop located at Marienstraße.

The tramcar in the pic was built in 1964 Eigenbau/LEW. Transferred to track building operation in 1985.
