Lehigh Valley Railroad freight train in Falls, Pennsylvania, 1974


With an Alco Century 628 on the point. This was a Co-Co type, powered by a 2,750 hp (2,051 kW) prime mover.  A total of 186 were built between December 1963 and December 1968: 135 for U.S. railroads, 46 for Mexican railroads and 5 for Hammersley Iron Ore in Western Australia, 3 of them by A.E. Goodwin in Sydney.
