New Caledonia maritime stamp, 1973

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the service from Marseille to Nouméa by the Panama Canal.  The stamp shows the paquebot El Kantara (named after a commune in Algeria) which was one of the first ships (if not the first?) used on the service -- info and pics here
